I am filling out my application for inland spousal sponsorship, and one of the things required is a proof of status in Canada. I am currently a visitor, but as a US citizen, I did not receive any paperwork to show this status. How should I go about fulfilling this requirement?

My guess is your passport plus whatever evidence you are submitting for your residency in Canada should be enough but maybe there is another way.

Don't think there's much you can do except provide whatever you have, for example, airplane ticket/boarding pass. If you don't have anything eg because land border crossing, short letter of explanation with time and date of crossing (as best you know it) and the name of the port of entry.

This isn't an unusual exercise, they basically just want the date and the port of entry.

How did you enter, via air or land? If you came via land crossing, you should have been given a visitor record and a stamp in your passport. If by air, I know they did not stamp mine when coming in via air for a short visit, but if it was by air, you can show your ticket.

The OP is a U.S. citizen; no passport stamp.

Ponga, I too, am a US citizen. I have been across the border both by air and land. When doing so by air, they did not stamp my passport, but by land, they did stamp my passport. I've only been to Canada, so no other stamps to be confused by. Passport was stamped and given a visitor record upon coming through land border.
Being a US citizen, and having gone through this, is why I responded, knowing what I have.

@AngelBear I have traveled between the US and Canada many times, and my experience has been different than yours. Back when I started (came up here for school a decade ago) they would stamp it every time (aficr) but at some point they stopped stamping. They also usually don't give me a visitor record. The one time I did receive a visitor record though, they did stamp my passport.

I wonder if it might depend on which POE you enter. I had also informed them of the intent of submitting the PR application and my spouse was with me. Might make a difference, who knows. Was just going off of what happened with me, trying to help.
