Hello colleagues,

I just saw this news: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/news/2024/08/minister-boissonnault-reducing-the-number-of-temporary-foreign-workers-in-canada.html

It says that they are going to stop processing low-wage LMIAs. My question is: if an LMIA has already been submitted (in July), and is awaiting a response, would this change affect or only affect applications made from the date it states (September 26)?

Best regards and thank you

Hi, thanks for your answer. Why at the border?
It was relatively easy to get a WP without much scrutiny at many borders so there may be directives sent to CBSA making processing much more stringent. Higher chance this may impact lower wage low skilled WPs.
