Kindly advise
For renewal of PGP PR, is it necessary to file Tax Return in Canada, as I have no income in Canada, being Sr. Citizen and on PGP PR.
However I am filling IT return in india and paying tax.

If you are living in Canada, you file a tax return even if you have no income.

How much time are they spending in Canada per year?

3-4 months in Canada and rest in india. I am to complete 24 months. I am sr.citizen and government pensioner in india and paying tax in india
CRA can help you determine if you are a tax resident but likely you aren’t. On the other hand you have not spent enough time in Canada to quality to use the Canadian healthcare system so hopefully you haven’t applied for a health card or used Canadian healthcare or you could be asked to repay any healthcare you used. You need to pay for travel medical insurance for any subsequent visits and only apply for a health card when you plan on meeting the residency obligation to qualify for healthcare in that province. There may up to a 3 month wait to qualify for provincial healthcare and a 6-12 month residency requirement the first year and typically 5 months a year for subsequent years although verify specific information for the relevant province.
