I am a Canadian citizen living and working in Ontario. I recently sponsored my girlfriend for permanent residency through the inland common-law process. It’s been a couple of weeks, and we are still waiting for the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AR).

Today, she received a couple of job offers after being laid off from her previous company. One offer is a full-time position in Montreal, and the other is an 8-month contract in Toronto. Given the current job market, she is more interested in the full-time position.

I plan to stay in Ontario, and we will visit each other regularly.

Given that I will remain in Ontario, do we need to change her application based on her potential move to Quebec? Additionally, do we need to inform IRCC of these changes?

Your `girlfriend'? Is she not your Common-Law partner? ;)

You must both reside together while the [Inland] application is being processed, as it is a fundamental requirement.

You should absolutely contact IRCC to seek their advice if she plans to move to Quebec. I suspect she would need to change to an Outland application, since it does not require cohabitation during the process (but not ideal for a Common-Law applicant).

A better (easier) plan would be to take the 8 month job in Onterrible, er...I mean Ontario, IMHO. After she has her PR, you can move anywhere in Canada.

You would need to withdraw the inland application and reapply outland. Inland sponsorship requires you to be cohabitating.
