Moving to Ontario while working under closed work permit

Hello ,

I work for an IT firm in Vancouver under a closed work permit but never go into the office and work from home permanently.

My partner, who has recently received permanent residency and has a new job in Ontario, and we want to live together and apply for spousal sponsorship.

Can I move to Ontario and continue working remotely, or would I need my company to arrange a new work permit for Ontario? Please advise.

My work will expire next year in July,2025.

Yes, employment location is Vancouver

So as a closed work permit holder you should be living in Vancouver or the surrounding area. You can try to modify your WP if you want.

You’d need to either reapply or see if IRCC would agree to modify it which is more of informal process with no guarantees.
