Hi,
I have applied for a post-graduation work permit extension because it expires early due to my passport's validity. It has been 4 months, and the application is still in process. My question is, I got married last week and if I update my marital status in my application then will it take more time to get the work permit??
Thanks.

Hello,
I got eCOPR today...It is showing marital status as single. But I got married on June 28th 2024 and landed in Canada on July 31 2024. Do I need to inform ircc for update In marital status. ? I would be sponsoring my spouse. Will this effect her PR ?

You were required to add your spouse to your application before landing in Canada and becoming a PR. Failing to do so means your spouse can never be sponsored.

Thanks for your reply. But now what is the solution to this issue ? I already raised the webform and informed IRCC regarding change in my marital status.

There is no solution if you LANDED without declaring that you were married on the day that you...LANDED!

I applied for PR under CEC and got ITA in december 2023. Then I submitted all my documents in January. Now I left canada on June 13 2024 for my marriage. When I was back home I received First portal request on June 18 2024. in that i mentioned currently i am not in canada. I got married on June 28 2024 and landed in canada on July 31 2024. I informed ircc about my return to canada. So they sent my login credentials for the PR portal. Then i raised webform and informed ircc about change in my marital status. But i got ecopr today in that they have not mentioned any dependent. Will this affect my spousal sponsorship ?

Yes it will! You failed to declare your spouse when you landed.

Here's a very similar thread, with the same answer...unfortunately.

It seems OP did inform before receiving CoPR. It seems IRCC did not yet act on it and went ahead with issuing CoPR as single. Still can be issue ?

@kai0910 - why didnt you inform as soon as you got married ? (or atleast when you informed that you have retuned to Canada and that your martial status has changed)

Yes I informed them that I have returned to Canada and then at the same time I informed that my marital status has changed. I attached our marriage certificate and my spouse's passport. Still they issued eCOPR.

There might be some solution to this. Shall I visit IRCC office in Toronto ? They are not even responding on call.

IRCC may simply ask you why you landed on an eCoPR that is marked as you being Single. Could you not have waited for a revised document before you landed?

No I landed on July 31 2024 on my trv. Then I told them that I am in Canada. After that I informed them about my change in marital status. And today on August 14 2024 they issued eCOPR. I did not landed on eCOPR.

How did you land as a PR with a TRV?

Your spouse would have needed to be added to your PR application. You don't simply add their name at the last minute.
