Citizenship test - changed to "In progress" on Aug 10.
Testing window - Aug 23 to Sep 21

I haven't received the e-mail with the instructions for the test, yet. I might wait till 6 days before the test, to reach out to Client Support Centre.

Does the e-mail invitation/instructions usually take time to arrive?

That is perfectly okay, you can give anytime 24*7 till the test window is open.

Alternatively, if you want to give earlier, you can email the processing office to take the test from outside Canada (email ID mentioned in the contact us section of the test invite PDF). They usually respond within 2-3 days and once they reply, you are good to take the test from outside.

Yes, it will be sent closer to your test start date, so you are good.
