Pgwp paper application due to passport expiry

Hello guys,

I have applied to extend my pgwp due to passport expiry. My paper application got to IRCC on Jan 4th according to tracking on canada post. Last week, I sent a webform to confirm if it has been received and uploaded to their system. I also called IRCC agent to check, they both said my application is not yet on their system.

I am getting worried about this because I need a way to track my applications. I wanted to apply online initially but it said on their website that pgwp extension due to passport expiry application has to be on paper, I also called IRCC to confirm this. But it has been almost two weeks since my application got to them and I haven't even gotten an AOR.

Has anybody submitted a paper application for pgwp extension due to passport expiry recently?

If yes, how long did it take to get AOR and how long did it take altogether to get a final decision on your application?

I initially got 10 months which expires in May and I have still not gotten a full time job in my field and I also know that employers may not hire me cus the current work permit I have expires in May.

I'm getting depressed about all these.

Can someone help with suggestions?

Thanks.

Well I submitted on paper through Canda Post Xpress and the mail arrived second day on March.25. And only today I received the biometric letter(which i suppose they open my application) and I have to pay addition $100(which seems to be the open work permit hold fee, this sounds stupid to me as I am extending on a old permit). Anyways currently it looks like it will take them ~4 months to start process and I am able to link my application today

I am still waiting to be approved.

When did IRCC get your paper application?

IRCC got my application on Jan 4th and I was able to link it on March 8th.

What was the biometric letter about?

How much did you pay the first time that you were applying?

What process will take them 4 months and why 4 months?

1. The biometric letter is for any who havent provided their biometric to IRCC/Canada to go to any Canada service site and give the fingerprints as well as photograph.

2. I paid $240, initially (application fee + biometric fee)

3. This I cannot answer why it took this long, what I can tell is that I sent in the application on March.25 and only today I received update for my appliction

Have you not done biometric before when you were applying for study permit? Is biometric not supposed to last for 10 years? Why do you have to do it again?

The application fee without biometric is $255. That is how much I paid for just the application alone so I guess you did not pay complete payment and that is why they are asking for $100 more.

No my initial study permit dates back to 2014 and I dont think there was a requirement to get the biometric done by then, and after that extension within canada does not require biometric as far as I remember.

And according to the letter by IRCC "The correct amount required is $340.00 for the services you requested ($155.00 Work Permit fee + $100.00 Open Work Permit holder fee + $84.00 Biometrics fee). " And thats why I call the open work permit holder fee stupid as I am only extending not to open a new permit and the $240 is the amount I get when I select to extenion my PGWP when I fill out the initial question, thus they are contradicting with themself.

Anyway its just another $100, I will pay it and fax the receipt to IRCC(yes the letter asked me to fax the receipt to them which is wired), I dont want to argue with the officer as the contry is growingly hostile against immigrants
