Work permit refusal

Hello,

My work permit ended on 28th Feb, 2024. I got my PR invitation the same day. I submitted my file on 26th March and applied for BOWP on 27th March from inside Canada. I left Canada in 1st week of April. I got a work permit refusal today stating that my status ended on 28th Feb and I applied for work permit on 27th March. I had a TRV during my stay in Canada.

Will this overstay can affect my PR?

Having a valid TRV in Canada did not mean you had valid status in Canada. You were out of status in Canada as soon as your work permit expired. You must have valid status in Canada in order to apply for PR. It may be a good idea to send a web form to let IRCC know that you left Canada in April.

Oh got it. Yes, I have already sent a webform to IRCC to let them know that I am in India since April. My PR application is currently in progress, currently in background check since almost 2 months. Will this affect my application?
