Hi there,

I am an international student enrolled in a Diploma. My course is delayed due to personal reasons, and I also got LMIA support from my employer. My student permit expires on 30th Sept. If I go with pre-approved LMIA, what are the chances of me getting a work permit? If my work permit is refused, can I still apply for a study permit extension?

So how can a course be delayed for personal reasons? Are you suspended? How long have you not be studying? You cannot work if not going to school. Not sure how you could apply for extension if not attending school.

As for LMIA, what is the NOC? When was it issued? It isn’t in your name so employer has to change conditions of LMIA.

It's delayed because I failed in one subject, a prerequisite to another, only available once a year. I have attended all semesters and am currently studying. I will have to take additional courses to remain a full-time student. For LMIA its pre-approved and I will have to get work permit approved

None of us here will be able to tell you your chances of success. I assume the occupation for the LMIA is something you have previous work experience in.

If the work permit is refused and your study permit is still valid, then you will be able to apply for an extension.

What is the NOC? So all you can do is wait and see if approved work permit.

So when does the LMIA expire? Are you working for employer now? Job is TEER 4 so what is your long term plan as you are not eligible for Express Entry.
I am not working yet. I am thinking if that is better idea to do the job and apply for PR
