eTA entry with a current OWP application in process

I'm in Canada and have applied for a new work permit under LMIA and I'm currently on maintained status. My wife was with me but she had to leave Canada due to the death of her father and she lost her maintained status. The LMIA case is still in progress but we don't want to be separated until the case is finished as we don't know how long it will take. Can she have a smooth entry as she is trying to return as a visitor with a pending OWP application? Has anyone had a similar experience?

No guarantee she can enter as a visitor since she is attempting to live in Canada not visit. Nobody can give you the odds she will be able to enter without issue.

Thanks for your response @canuck78, and I understand your point.
In this case, she has dual intent since she's also coming to visit me, and since dual intent is legitimate, I was hoping to get an entry without issue. She will have a return ticket in case she needs to show but she doesn't have much ties to her home country since she's been living here for the last 2 years.
