Sharing my timeline and experience in Vancouver for Dropbox. Dates maybe +/- 1
I went through a lot of pages and forums. Read all 160+ pages in the H1b dropbox in canada on this site. Please do your own research and not follow me as things could turn out differently for you. Hope this helps others.
Hey abdmuq11. you seem to have done a good amount of research.
To abdmuq11 or other helpful members, I have a few queries
Some details:
I'm indian citizen, used to live in the US on H1B. I live in Canada at the moment on a PR. Working on returning back to the US, got my H1B and looking to book an appointment and on a time crunch.
B1/B2: I have B1/B2 for the US valid until 2027. Got this in Canada.
H1B: I had H1B until Sept of 2020, last H1B stamping was in India back in 2018
Based on what I looked at (US Consulate website for Canada and India, and this forum as well as immihelp forum), I would most likely be eligible for dropbox/mail options in both India and Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Been a while since my last H1B stamping or B1/B2 vis appointment and didn't have to go through scenarios below. So my questions are
1. Will I only know if I am eligible for dropbox after paying fees?
2. Canada drop box will be first choice. But if canada doesn't allow, I am planning to go to India to get it done soon (& I could also visit family). Is fees tied to the DS160 tied to a location? Can I create 2 DS160's and use the fees for whichever allows me for dropbox?
3. In the DS160 for Canada, should I go with my H1B or B1/B2?
4. In the DS160 for India, should I go with my H1B or B1/B2?
I only see this
https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-renewal-by-mail/ but not the 160 page doc. Please link the 160 page doc or site that helped.
