I just finished high school in Canada as my family moved here last year. I'm an international student, looking to get into college, how do I go about applying for a student visa
And does the fact that I am already in Canada help with the application process?
And do I need to show proof of funds
Is the application process different from people coming in on their own

You get admission and then apply for a student visa as an international student. You pay international fees. If not PR then you need to show a minimum of $21k and tuition for first year.

Im already in Canada, why do I need to show $21k, when I am living with my parents in Canada

You are not PR or citizen and you are an international student paying international fees. You are no longer in high school and attending post secondary. Doesn’t matter that your parents are working in Canada. Are your parents going to get PR? You have to meet the minimum requirements for a post secondary study permit. So parents can show the minimum funds as well as first year tuition paid or the money in the bank.

Would add this is very late to apply if you were hoping to start school in the Fall. When do your parents WPs or SPs expire?

Do you mean to start applying for a Student Visa?
My parent's work permit expires next year
When do you plan to go to college/university? If the fall, leaving it late as you need admission and processing takes at least 8-10 weeks.

Are you parents hoping for PR or will be leaving Canada? This has no bearing on you getting a study permit but you will need to show ties to return to home country upon completion of program.

Do you have PAL too? So you need to apply for a study permit ASAP because you may not get response in time. You can show your parents’ bank accounts that has at least $21k plus tuition plus funds to support themselves and any other children.

Hoping for PR doesn’t mean getting PR. They will know if they are eligible and if scores are high enough for an invitation.

I fell under the category of people who don't need to get PALs, and yes they have the 21k + minimum requirement, that wasn't the problem, they just wanted me to know if the process of applying was different

Right, you didn’t need PAL. Apply ASAP because processing is currently 12 weeks not including passport stamping. You may have to defer if you don’t get a response in September. You are applying as an international student. Show unconditional LOA, paid tuition if possible.
