Please I, together with my family (wife and two daughters) are currently living in Canada and are on Work Permit. Valid till 2026.

We submitted application for PR under AIP and are currently awaiting decision. My wife is the primary applicant while I am the secondary applicant. However, I have a very compelling urgent need to travel out of Canada to my home country by next week for a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, my current TRV expired in May 2024. I submitted application for the TRV renewal inside Canada in May, just to enable exit and re-enter Canada while the PR process is on-going, but the application is still awaiting approval. It has long exceeded the 24days process time.

Hence given that the PR application is still awaiting approval, I am confused on what options are open to me.

I read from other threads that the if the TRV is approved, it is possible to write IRCC to approve that I submit my passport in my home country Canada embassy for Visa stamping, however not sure what the case will be if the PR is approved, especially if approved when am yet to receive when the PR is approved while I am out of Canada. Not sure how I can return to Canada to my TRV. How will I enter Canada to continue with the visa processing?

Any useful suggest will be appreciated, especially if you have had a similar experience or know someone that could share experience.

So you don't have a TRV now? To be able to return you will need a PR card or PRTD if you get a PR.
Thanks so much for your response. The problem from what i understand is that prior to the PR approval, i will most probably receive portal 1 and 2, where i have to confirm that i am still in Canada, which will be followed by COPR. Not sure of the steps and the full process. Am just totally confused with the whole situation.

You need a new TRV to return to Canada before you get your PR/COPR.

If you get the portal 1 and 2 while you are outside, there should be instruction to inform IRCC that a dependent is currently outside. Then you will need to wait for PPR and submit passport to your local VO.
As a dependent of the application, you will need yours spouse (PA) to complete virtual landing first (portal 1+2+eCOPR) and then you can land with the stamped passport.

Wao!!
This information means a lot to me and so helpful. At least I feel a bit relieved that all hope is not lost, after coming this far. I have been so depressed for the past few days. Thanks a lot. Most appreciated.
