Hi, I have applied Visa for my wife and kid(age 2 years). Biometrics was done in April 25th 2024, and yesterday we got message under my wife application stating that

"Parent Authorization to Travel: Signed letter of authorization from the non-accompanying
parent(s) authorizing your travel to Canada. Must be accompanied by a copy of their
passport or national ID clearly showing their signature."

Here I am having a confusion, whether my wife's parents should give consent since this request came under my wife's application or I have to give consent as my child is traveling with one parent.

Please help me on this.

Nothing to do with wife’s parents. You give consent for child to leave country and travel with wife. Get a notarized letter. I always had a letter when my children were small authorizing that children could travel out of the country without my spouse.

Thank you for the response. Currently I am in Canada and my family is going to travel from India. So I will have to give consent letter and my wife has to get it notarized in India?

You should get a letter done in Canada and then send it to your wife. This is to attempt to stop a parent from leaving with a child without the other parent’s knowledge and consent.
