Here is the situation: 8 years ago asylum seeker refugee after entering us legally, crossed us-canada border illegally to canada. Long story short now he is canadian citizen and has canadian passport. Can he travel to back to US as tourist ? Or is there any method to check if he has ban or not ?

You must remember the Department of State is WAY less forgiving if you used your US visa for the sole purpose of crossing the border . Obtaining Canadian citizenship doesn’t erase that fact .
Did you accrue any unlawful time in the USA ?
Only way to find out is by attempting entry into the USA

I crossed the border and claimed refugee here in Canada 8 years ago, Im PR and not yet citizen, I applied for USA visa and drove there last week and back to Canada without any issues
