OINP EE skilled trades (NOI Jan 11) - Requested a valid work permit at DIP

Hey guys,

It's my first thread here and I would like to share my experience with future candidates.

I got a message from OINP today, they requested a valid work permit or proof of applying work permit.

Currently I have a visitor record (legal status), not work permit (it's expired on early Mar)

My time line is as follows,

Jan 11 - NOI
Feb 7 - Submitted
Feb 20 - DIP
Early Mar - WP was expired // got visitor record (legal status is maintained, never broken)
Mid Mar - upload my visa on OINP web portal
May 23 - Doc was required (a valid work permit or proof of applying)


I followed the description on ONIP homepage about legal status.

- When I applied and submitted application, I had a valid work permit. (O)
- I should maintain my status as legal status (visitor, study or work) until getting nomination. (O)

So I just wonder why OINP requested my work permit now. And they said they will assess my application based on my original application if I don't submit a valid work permit.

Am I ok to submit my visitor record with explanation letter? OR should I prepare to apply work permit in 5 days?

I am so confused now.

Someone has similar case of me, please share your idea or exp.

Check the following conditions,

1. When you applied, your work permit was valid.
2. You have maintained legal status(work, study or visitor) after expiration of your work permit.

If you are equivalent to the above conditions , you just send your current visa. Don’t worry.
FYI, I sent my current visa and then I got a nomination.
