Hi community,

I had a used name before I was one year old, this name did not appear on all my documents (passport, national identification card, etc) except on my birth certificate. I was not aware of this used name until I recently asked my family for the birth certificate. That's the background.
(Birth certificate is not required for my case, as IRCC stated, but many of my friends included it as support, so I think it is good to do so)

So the issue is, when I submit the EE profile, I didn't include this information. And as this Q&A said, there is no field to update such information.
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1003&top=29

Is it possible to update such information after ITA, (I'm still in the pool) or is there any method to correct it?
Do I need to make a 'proof of name change' in my country of origin?
What is the best solution for my case?

Thanks

I don't have a birth certificate. Unless they ask for it in ADR (which is super rare), you have nothing to worry about.

However, you might need a birth certificate in future. So, get it corrected on your birth certificate. If IRCC asks for it, send it to them.

Thanks for the explanation.
But I still want to ask, after ITA of EE, will I have a chance to went through all the form and add a used name in my personal info? Thanks

Hi,

How is your application going? I am in a similar situation as yours, and unfortunately, I have to include my birth certificate in my application.

Hi,

I submitted a notary certification of the birth certificate, well, along with other docs as support. And I have eligibility green on tracker. So I think it’s fine as long as all the info you provide after ITA aligns each other.
