Hello community ,

I have my study permit already since October 2023, but I had to change DLI because my former school revoked my admission because the visa was not approved on time.

Right now I have change my DLI and I have also reapplied to IRCC information them of the change of DLI.As it the normal procedure.I applied since late year December.

I haven’t gotten any response from themmy resumption date is 6th may 2024,What can be the cause of the delay?.

As I said before I have my student visa already still very much valid.

What are the implications if I did not hear from them in April next month and decide to travel to Canada before May 6th

what are my changes with the immigration and customs at the entry point.

I am from Nigeria.
Thank you

You need a new study permit if you are changing DLI, outside Canada and have never studied at the DLI on your permit.

Changing your DLI if you’re outside Canada
If your application is still in progress
You can tell us you changed your DLI by submitting a new letter of acceptance using the IRCC web form.

If your application has been approved
If your application for a study permit has been approved and you change your DLI, you must submit a new study permit application with a new letter of acceptance. You must also pay all the fees for the new application.

But did you have an approved study permit and then changed schools? If so you need to apply for a new study permit. Did you apply for a new study permit?

Yes, exactly I have my study permit before change of school.

Knowing the procedures I reapplied with the New application documents from the New school paying the application charge to IRCC since last year, but it delaying .
I don’t know what to do.

So you applied for a new study permit, and have yet to be approved for new study permit. What is eligibility, background and medical status? Raise a webform and ask the status of your new application. Your approved permit is based to a DLI that you are no longer attending, so you cannot enter on it. You would be asked for documentation proving you are going to that DLI.

You should not travel until you get the results of your new study permit.

Good day all.

I have received my study permit visa and to resume May 5th. My wife is pregnant and coming with me through SOWP. My question is will she be able to get medical insurance so as to reduce the cost of giving birth?

Which province are you going to? Many do not have health insurance coverage unless she has a job (covered as a foreign worker)
provide more information so others can help.

If you are studying full-time in May she should be able to qualify for MSP in up to 3 months time. How pregnant is she?

EDD is in June
what?! You plan to study in May and her due date in June 2024?!

It's very risky and you sure that she can get on a flight so soon to her due date?

She likely won't be covered yet since there is a 3 months waiting period in BC. And due date is just an estimate.

What do you mean by resume your studies?Have you been studying in Canada? If so when did your studies end and where/what did you study and what where? Did you study full-time? Did you indicate that your wife was pregnant on the SOWP application? When is her due date? Big difference between June 1 or 30th? Do you have place to live already secured? Do you have at least 15k for healthcare to cover basic costs or care until delivery and a vaginal delivery with epidural in addition to the funds needed to pay for your studies and the funds needed to support your family during your studies.
