Airport Control - Hotel Reservation Confirmation

Hey everyone!

I'll be in Canada soon on a Visitor Visa and I'll be residing at my friends house throughout my stay in Canada, and I was wondering if I'll be needing a Confirmed and Fully Paid Hotel Reservation upon my arrival at the airport, cuz I heard a lot of stories of people getting rejected entry to Canada and deported back home because of not having a Confirmed Hotel Reservation

Is the hype real? will I ever be deported if I had not Hotel Reservation?

I’ve been in the US as a visitor many times before and I always used a dummy hotel reservation but never had any issue with the CBP officers (I assume that the DHS should have more resources to check this stuff)

All that being said, what really comes to mind is the question that how the CBSA Officer will ever be able to check of my hotel reservation whether its legit or not? and tbh I don't think they'll have enough time to call the hotel to check the validity of the reservation of each and every visitor

And even if they do, how come that the hotels front desk will disclose such a sensitive information with someone calling through the phone asking about their clients residential info

If anyone had any experience with hotel reservations when entering Canada your experience is very needed, and also if anyone knows anything about using an invitation letter instead and whether or not it will just make things suspicious

CBSA will call the hotel to confirm your reservation. You have to book for the period of your stay with a credit card. Don't risk it else, you might not be allowed to enter Canada

Be honest
Take a email/letter from your friend mentioning your stay at his place and also taking his Passport/WP/PR on email and when Immigration officer ask reply honestly, the best way to answer

In one of my friend's friend case, Immigration Officer called hotel and found tickets dummy and they deported

Be honest, take friends invitation and documents and mention truth, that's advisable

They can call anyone even AirBNB, don't underestimate them

Let's take example
If you say you are staying in hotel/airBNB and asks you to share travel plans, then what will you do ?
In Canada, immigration officer ask questions twice or thrice at different windows and different officers, so be careful

Why do you want to hide the information that you will be staying with your friend?
It is legal and acceptable to stay with friend/relative/family during your visit. You just need to be aware about Who is this friend? What he do? How you know him? What is his phone number? what is his address? etc.
CBSA will be OK with the stay. If they want to verify the story, they will call your friend and he can confirm that too.

Why do you want to raise a suspicion around yourself? Just be honest and they are good with it.

how about using an Airbnb reservation ?
He can't call Airbnb nor the host could he

They sure can call Air B&B and they can look up the listing online.

I hosted my friends before. I make sure that they have my address and I was ready to receive a phone call from CBSA in case the officer wanted to call me to confirm.
WHY wouldn't you be honest and just tell border service that you are staying with your friend?!!
