Hi All,
I just created my Express Entry profile and I am eligible for CEC program. I have 419 points after doing 1 year of Canadian work experience in the field of my education. I am thinking of getting Certificate of Qualification related to my field - user Support Technician. I can get it without any exam, I have confirmed this. I just want to do this for extra 50 points to get invite.

I am not sure if I will be eligible in FSW program after that. What are the suggestions?. Should I get the certificate and enter in my profile???. Will it affect/change anything. Also, if I am invited under FSW, what documents I need from my employer as my employer is not negotiating on LMIA at any cost.

Appreciate your help.
Thanks

Hi there,

Yeah sure, get your Certificate of Qualification and add it to your application. It never hurts.

I'm not sure if you will be eligible for FSW but your employer needs to get you LMIA if you are going through an arranged employment, meaning a job offer. A simple job offer letter has no meaning without LMIA unless you go through PNP options.

Best of luck,

By all means, get the certificate, it will help your application, But you cannot get the extra 50 points for this, because the Certificate of Qualification only applies to those who work in the skilled trades (plumber, electrician).

"Certificate of qualification (trade occupations)"

"Skilled Trades ... are organized under these major and minor groups of the NOC:

Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades,
Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades,
Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production,
Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators,
Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks, and
Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers.
These major NOC groups are subdivided into different occupations. (All are NOC skill type B.)"

Hello, My NOC code is 4214. I have a certificate that is provided by a regulated body in ONtario, but still I am unable to get points for it in my express entry profile.
Any idea?

Your job is not a trade, you do not qualify for those points.

It is not a trade, therefore no points for a "certificate of qualification." However, since it is a regulated occupation (I will have to take your word for it, since there are several occupations under that NOC), you need to have the certificate/license to have you work experience count. So ... you should include a copy of your certificate/license with your employment documents.

Hi There,
I have received an ITA under CEC for a PR application. My Trade is (72025 – Supervisors, mail and message distribution occupations). I need a certificate of qualification so I can move with the process. Since it's a non-regulated trade, is it possible to submit my educational qualification as certificate of qualification and get assessed. Please advise.

If you received ITA why do you need certificate. Certificate is for trades like electrian, plumbing, welding. There is no certificate for your NOC.

When I applied I thought certificate of qualification was my education since it required to be hired (Post Graduated Diploma). But now people are saying that certificate of qualification is for plumbers electrician and other. I get that so in my case can i submit my college diploma as qualification?

No. Diploma is not a license/certificate. Are you counting points for a certificate? If so, don’t count the points.
