Hi, I'm wondering how do I correctly fill out Canada spousal sponsorship PR application if my spouse has a double lastname such as, "Diaz Valete" in the passport, where Diaz is actually their father's last name. And for the name field in the passport, it maybe something like "Juan Pedro", where "Pedro" can be considered a middle name.

Should I always put in both names, such as "Juan Pedro", and "Diaz Valete" in all the places in the forms that says firstname, and lastname?

Thank you for your help

Depends if your spouse wants to go by “Diaz” or “Diaz Valete” as their surname in Canada all the way up to their Canadian passport and government forms. They can drop the Valete or add it at the end of Juan Pedro.

I agree with above but my guess is adminsitratively in long term easier if you stick to keeping both last names, as will correspond to passport. You can change it in future.

For day-to-day usage (work or whatever else) in Canada, almost no-one will care if you prefer to just use Diaz (for example).

I believe IRCC (and most official all over) largely indifferent to you leaving out other given names if you do not wish to use them, i.e. you could use Juan or Juan Pedro on forms. Same point as above for common usage in Canada, no-one will care if you choose not to use a second name in daily life.
