Hi,

I'm new to the group, so please bear with me.

Me and my partner is expressing our interest to move in Canada, to migrate and settle, since with the new policy for international students took in place. we are looking for other options to fulfill our dreams. here's a our background

we've been working in a company located in our country, we both have the same setup which is work from home, we are also not using the salary/wage from the labour market of Quebec hence the contract. our immediate boss has a client in Canada (Quebec, Montreal). we are been working to his client for several years, my partner is working for more than 7 years and counting, while I'm doing 3 years and counting, yearly we renew our contract to our immediate boss starting from September to next calendar year.

our question is/are, is it possible for us to migrate to Canada given the situation we have? if so, what are the stream/program we should be looking for? we can't rely to student pathway + open working permit for the meantime due to new policy.

thanks,
JNS

I'm not sure this situation really helps you unless the company you work for has physical operations in Canada and is willing to go through the ICT work permit process to move you there. Unfortunately what you have now does not constitute a job offer in Canada and is not regarded as Canadian work experience.

Have you researched the Express Entry program? Do you have enough points for this and to be selected?

And just to clarify, it is incorrect to say that you cannot rely on the student pathway. That option is very much still open as long as the person on the study permit is completing the right level of education in Canada.

yes, I read that our work experience is not is not classified as Canadian work experience, I was hoping for other options. :(

for express entry program, I'll take a look and review its eligibility.

for student pathway, as much as we want, we can't. OWP is now eligible to student who take master/phd as of the new policy from IRCC dated Jan. 22, 2024 (as far as i understand). our initial plan is to take a 2 year post-back diploma program at douglas college, i need my partner so i can only focus in my studies.
