Hi, i am on study permit and already enrolled at laurentian university as an undergrad since january 2024. I applied for a work permit for my wife to join me and the application was submitted in september 2023 and the requested a medical in october 2023 . Since then i havent heard back from the ViSa office. Will the current announcement afftect applications already in the system ?? How does this affect me?

All you can do is wait and see if approved given she applied so long ago. It has not been announced if those that applied months ago are still eligible or not.

Too little too late. The condition is absolutely horrible here and it's a complete chaos. Hardly jobs and huge housing crisis. Indians do want to move to a developed nation and Canada have the easiest way to do that using student stream. However the conditions in Ontario at least are terrible and most students living with 3-4 people in horrible basements. Inflation is high with basements also charging 1800-2000 a month. Really going to be difficult to survive if people still come here to manage everything depending on part time or blue collar jobs. Thousands of people applying for the same position. Unless and until your purpose is mainly study choose University and have the backup rather than thinking about jobs here. Even people (non students) looking for jobs in IT as full time are not getting interview calls.Should take a break for at least few years until the situation stabilise here which is absolutely chaotic.

It doesn't matter how chaotic it is. Indians are made of money, or have this uncanny ability to pull money out of thin air. They'll be fine, all they care about is their ability to get into Canada, anything else is easily attainable.

So IRCC is starting to clarify PGWP requirements. No mention about Masters and PhD, but guessing PG diplomas/certificates are not covered as most are taking back to back programs to get 3 years. Now it will be two years. The length of program = length of PGWP.

If you completed more than 1 program

You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed must be

• PGWP eligible and
• at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials) in length

Just look at all the videos on Indians in UK or Germany, they are all struggling and crying cos they can't get PR. Atleast in Canada its easier and theres a pathway for those will decent skills. Numbers will remain high
