Me/my wife is aspiring for a masters. We hv healthcare n Engineering background respectively. She has been the one with healthcare n thinking of applying to University of Windsor in biotechnology. Will it be the right decision under current changes? Or should we try elsewhere as the cap will impact ontario n bc the most. I'll be the one working in that case

Would be great if smone share the list of private-public partnership places as a caution to what we should avoid.

Also, I was planning to take a professional course in Data Science after a year of working. Would that be wise or I should do a Masters too?

I am on a visitor visa aged 35 and I am in the process of converting into study permit.
Is there any difficulties on my path as I am still considered as an international student but inside Canada? If yes, what are they?

You cannot convert a permit. You are applying for a study permit and it is processed from your home country if you are a visitor. Unless you are doing a Masters or PhD, you cannot apply for a study permit until March 31 as you will need a letter of attestation from the province for approval. You need to wait to see what the caps for each province are and get letter if attestation if you have LOA. Still need to show funds, ties to return home, justify program etc.

Thanks for replying

I am pursuing pre-requisite certification program in business as of now.
My plan was to do two year diploma.
Does that mean after completing the course and I will not get the LOA also cannot apply for study permit until 31 march? because I was going to apply visitor record after these steps as my six months are going to complete in the second week of march.

You most likely will need LOA first to get letter of attestation. Extend your stay and then wait for requirements. Are you single? Provinces will be capped on the number of students they are allowed so who know how provinces will determine who gets a letter of attestation.

Yes, I am single.
I have arranged funds as my semester fees in the bank account in Canada, my parental home is my home country which I have justified my ties while applying the visitor visa. I am running a small business (self employed) in my home country. Is this enough to justify in my case? Else what should I do?
How can I justify my visitor record if I am not able to apply for the college until 31st march?

Ok. So you have a minimum of $20k plus tuition. You have to demonstrate that the program advances education. You need to demonstrate why you need to take the program in Canada. If a business program, then why would you take it in Canada. What makes it different? You need to show that you will have higher pay when you complete the program.

If you are self-employed and have a small business then you don’t need to further your education to advance your job. The longer you stay in Canada the less your ties are to your home country and the more difficult it will be to show that you need a degree to advance you small business. If you have been visiting Canada for an extended amount of time it will be very hard to show that you need to be in your home country to run your business. It is much easier to get approved for a study permit from your home country especially for just a diploma. A diploma at 35 will always be tough to justify and especially if you are already self-employed. How are you pursuing pre-reqs in Canada unless language?

Hi ! I have a question. Can anyone guide me please. I'm studying at Canadore@Stanford and I applied for my second program at Humber as well as Fanshawe College. As per new rules, Should I go for Humber because it's a public college and is not in partnership with any private college? And I'm wondering if I can get 3 years PGWP as Canadore @stanford is public-private partnership..

I go to St. Lawrence college in Kingston and wanted to know if colleges like mine are part of the public-private partnership institutes. It would be great of i could get a list all the colleges that would fall under this category so that I can steer clear from them for my next course.

If you are going to St Lawrence in Kingston you are attending a public DLI. It is the public DLIs that have partnered with private schools. For example, St. Lawrence is partnered with Alpha College in Toronto. It is mostly the Toronto area schools.

I also applied for Fleming College Toronto, a private-public partnership institute for May 2024 intake. Think this will affect to my PGWP and I’m confused
