Hi,

I am interested to apply for Canada Visitor Visa from India for myself and my family members. I have a family size of 3 people, myself, my school going son who is in a primary class and my housewife. I am an IT professional working in India in an MNC. My wife has a distant family relative who is settled in Canada for a long time. She is a widow, senior citizen , retired, residing there.
My purpose of getting this visa is to look out for job opportunities in my IT field in Canada. As per the new norms for this visa, which is valid till Feb 2025, one can search for jobs through a Visitor Visa.
Since we will be staying in her house for few months, so wanted to know if I need to take her Canadian passport and any accommodation proof documents like her driving license or utility bill for the Canada Visitor Visa document purpose . This will be for myself including my 2 family members since we all 3 will be going to Canada together. She is willing to give an invitation letter to us stating her details as a Canadian resident . She will include our names also in the invitation letter.
However, she is saying that there is no need to give personal documents like Canadian passport and driving license as the invitation letter will be enough.

Hence, I need a clarity here so that we do not get any rejection while applying for this VISA. Please advise if her personal documents will be required to get our Canada Visitor Visa or the invitation letter which she is currently willing to give will be enough.

Thanks,
Sushant

Your relative doesn’t need to provide anything if she doesn’t want to as she is not your immediate or extended family. She can write a letter of invitation. You want to show funds, travel history, ties to return (job letter with approved leave, school fees/registration, business).

Why do you all need to come to Canada to search for a job? All jobs are posted online and interviews can be done via Zoom. Where does this relative live? Will you have a car? You will need a lot of money to visit Canada and look for a job. I assume you understand the process and how long it will take (maybe up to a year) and you may get no offer and LMIA.

Visiting a distant relative with your whole family especially if during the school year will be a red flag for likely attempting to remain in Canada. There have also been significant layoffs in the tech sector in the past year and a very large influx of people who have the ability to work in Canada already or who have attempted to come to Canada to try and secure a WP so it will be quite difficult to find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process and many companies are not boring given the downtown in the economy and hiring too many people during the pandemic so many tech companies are laying people off. If you work for a MNC does your employer have offices in Canada and would a transfer be possible? When trying to find a job in Canada access to a Canadian phone number and address are important but otherwise everything can be done remotely until potentially a final interview. If you come to Canada your child will need a study permit and will need to pay international fees to attend public school. Without the study permit and paying fees of 10k+/yr he could be out of school for the the whole year. Agree that it makes little sense for a whole family to come to Canada without a guarantee of employment, need for a study permit for your son, etc. Your family could also be denied entry into Canada if there is concern that your are not genuine visitors. How much savings will you be able to show and does it make sense to come to a Canada and use your savings while seeing if you can find an employer willing to go through the process of hiring someone who needs a WP while you could also attempt to do this while in India and continuing to work for your current employer?

Thanks for the updates. However, as far as documents are concerned for Canada visitor visa from my wife's aunt who lives in Canada, does she need to give Canadian passport and any utility bill of her as an accommodation proof, or the invitation letter will be sufficient from her end .

Please advise since it is urgent.
