Surrender Indian passport before getting Canadian Passport

Hey Folks! I recently got my canadian citizenship and applied for the passport. Is it possible to surrender the Indian passport before I recieve the canadian one?

I have to travel for my wedding first week of April. I would have to apply for OCI too after getting surrender certificate. I am worried this is going to take time. Did anyone been in the same situation and have surrendered without passport?

If there is any problem e-visa is available which you get within 24 hrs.

They ask for Canadian passport if you are applying through BLS centers in Toronto or Brampton.
You have ample time. Surrender take up to 4 weeks and OCI up to 8 weeks. (Toronto jurisdiction)
Worse case scenario closer to your travel date if you still do not get the OCI in hand you can apply for eVisa like @forw.jane mention you will get that pretty quickly. For eVisa you do not require to surrender your Indian passport.
