Hi everyone

i applied visitor visa for my parents on Oct 31st and application still is in progress. Thay visited Canada in 2022 for almost 2 months and had visa for 5 years which is valid till end of Nov, 2023. Here by application details.

Biometric ( do not needed)
Eligibility ( Not started)
Background check ( In progress)

i have also access to the tracking portal. here is the detail on tracking portal:

Eligibility -- not started.
Back G check-- in progress
Biometric -- In progress

is it normal taking this long (country of applicant " Iran " 75 days ETA ) ? any thoughts? FYI, i have got PR since 2022 and it's been almost 6 years living in Canada

They are within normal processing times if applied on October 31. So no issues. You being PR has no bearing.

Thank you for replying back. I have heard that if you have stable or permanent status in Canada that matters when you apply for your parents. that's why i brought that up.

My cousin applied for his parents, and they have approved within a week. Same situation, had visitor visa and visited Canada 2 times in 5 years

No bearing unless applying for supervisa where you must meet LICO. It is their application, not yours. Every application is different and processed by different officers. All they can do is wait.

Posted processed times are estimated averages so some are processed faster while other take longer than average. Some are processed quickly if deemed eligible for AI processing but if manual processing is required then it typically takes months. Manual processing doesn’t mean refusal. Did your cousin apply for a supervisa or normal TRV? Had their parents visited multiple times? Had they applied before the recent protests related to women? Given that your parents followed immigration rules on their last visit there are good chances of approval.

Thanks for your comment.

they applied 2 months before us around September. At That time , processing time was 46 days and almost a year after protest. They had visited canada twice before covid and last year.

I know that, officer's decision might be selective and sometimes very subjective.
