Can we apply visitor visa renewal before expiry of few weeks

Hi,

I need to apply my parents visitor visa which is about to expire. Can anyone clear few doubts before I proceed ahead with application.
Parents have
- Canada visitor visa expiry in Jan 2024.

1. Can we apply renewal of visa now i.e. before Jan expiry
2. Also, Just to clarify, is the renewal process same as new visitor visa. I heard US have dropbox options for renewal at few places after submitting the application.

1. You can apply for a new visa now before expiry. There's no renewal. You apply for a new TRV.
2. Yes, same process as a new TRV.

My parent’s canada visitor visa is getting expired in Nov 2024 ( as the old passport has expiry date for this month). Now they have got the new passport; so How long before current visitor visa expiry, they can re-apply(re-new) the visa again ? Can they apply now i.e prior to 9ish month expiry ? Please let me know. Thank you in advance!
