Pre Arrival Letter - What is its purpose?

Hello everyone,

I got prearrival letter on 19 October 2022 it states the following.


Hello,
We are currently processing your application for permanent residency. You now qualify
to receive pre-arrival services to help you prepare for your new life in Canada. These
services are only available to you before you enter Canada.

09 September 2021 Application received
04 August 2022 You passed the medical exam.

We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information
We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes
You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
We do not need additional documents.
We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements
Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made

It means exactly what is written above, you are being offered services for free to help you prepare.

Undetermined. You can look at the tracker to see what's happened to others, that will give you a rough idea. But no-one can tell you.

I read entire letter.

Not able to figure out average time to get COPR after Pre Arrival Letter.

one more question. we don't have to do for background check right ? IRCC will automatically get it checked with Local Police ?

Yes, you don't need to do anhything unless they contact yo for more info.

When you will get pre arrival services is impossible to estimate but typically around 12 months but that is dependent on the country of origin and whether an interview is required. Some countries have a much longer processing time than 1 year. If you need an interview processing usually takes over a year.

you are now eligible for Ontario OHIP insurance with this letter also.

This is false, my mother went today with her arrival letter and they said they need a proper PR confirmatin.

Assuming your mother is being sponsored through PGP, she will not qualify for OHIP until she has been approved for PR and landed (and officially become a PR). There is no AIP with PGP applications. You are 100% right that pre-arrival is not AIP.

Hello all,
I went through the thread and a lot of helpful inputs from the participants.
We have a bit different case. Received Request letter for PCC, additional family information, Government position.

2 weeks after submitting the requested documents we received Pre Arrival Service letter. From doing more research most they say it's a positive indication.

Another 2 weeks in we received another request letter asking for travel history from, generic Canada form and one PCC.
We now wonder if this normal or if anyone received a request for ADR after the pre arrival services letter?

Oct 12, 2021 Medical exam status has been updated to In progress
Nov 18, 2021 We need more information for your medical exam
Jan 18, 2022 Medical exam status has been updated to Completed
Jan 19, 2022 Eligibility status has been updated to In progress
Mar 31, 2022 Eligibility status has been updated to Completed
Mar 31, 2022 Background verification status has been updated to In progress
Mar 31, 2022 Invitation to pre-arrival services

Last update on pr tracker shows May 24, 2022 but no actual update so im assuming its a ghost update.

File is in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

My wife is in Uganda and pregnant with our child due Aug 29th.

With this letter can she apply already for ohip??

This is not true you cannot get Ontario OHIP with this letter.. your PR have to be approved in order to get that.

YOU cannot get OHIP with this letter.. this is wrong. you only can apply OHIP when you approved for PR.. Dont give wrong information to people . after PR they give you a paper so you can go to Service Canada and apply for OHIP and SIN number which is Social Insurance Number so you can work in canada officially.

YOU cannot get OHIP with this letter.. this is wrong. you only can apply OHIP when you approved for PR.. . after PR they give you a paper so you can go to Service Canada and apply for OHIP and SIN number which is Social Insurance Number so you can work in canada officially.
