How long does it take for the IRCC to send back the passport to VFS?

Just wonder how many here are still waiting for ('stuck with') the background verification? We've been waiting since April and ATIP request and GCMS notes showed an intertal due date being around early Nov. Being hopeful. So far webforms were useless and letters to MP went futile.

My fear is this would drag another 6 months... Friends suggested a writ of mandamus but I don't see it applies yet.
