Are visa services being offered to Canadian citizens who are already in India?

There is no Grace period; that used to be before the CA-IND situation. Also travel plan is a valid reason for Oath Re-Scheduling. Many have done this already.

Yes I have heard that they need a reasonable explanation. So rather than not taking oath, I am thinking to take it and then travel on Indian passport as there is 3 month grace period.
Has anyone else travelled recently like that? Did they had any difficulty? I would really appreciate if they share the experience as I have tough timeline.

Says who? I have emails from Delhi frro & Kolkata frro that 3 months grace period still holds and you can travel and apply exit permit. And yes, this email was WELL AFTER the diplomatic row started. Now, minor details like if you can travel after obtaining CA passport or if there is any penalty when surrendering etc is still not clear. People have been able to surrender and obtain exit permit successfully.

@walter_white Thanks for the relief. Can you please share the FRRO's email id you and also can you please let me know what did you asked them? And what was there reply please?
Asking this because if at all it is a feasible option to travel on Indian passport, I would rather continue taking my oath this upcoming Friday.

Hi @nivaan5 I went through your updates, I am having online ceremony on Nov 3rd and I have my travel plans on Nov 28th. My layover will be in Dubai where I will be getting transit visa and hotel stay as the layover is longer than 12 hrs so I will have to exit the Dubai airport. Do you think that can create an issue for me if I travel on Indian passport?
-Also can you please provide the email id for the FRRO where you submitted your enquiry and they replied you back? I would like to submit the enquiry to them too so that I can have that as a proof.
-And lastly did any airport authorities i.e. Canada, India and your respective layover airport asked you any questions about status in Canada while you were flying to India?
I would really appreciate your prompt reply as I only have today to decide if I should take up ceremony and travel on the option of 3 month grace period or I should reschedule it. TIA.
Hi there
I flew directly to Delhi. So I did not have a lay over in any other country. I was not asked about my status in Canada anywhere.
frrodli@nic.in is the email address of Delhi FRRO where I contacted.

I still haven’t been able to reach to anyone at FRRO Bangalore. But I did get a document request on their online portal. They have requested a letter of details of Indian documents in possession ( voter id, ration card etc) I will be submitting it tomorrow.

If you have doubts, why don't you travel and return within the 3 months grace period?

Hello everyone
Update so far. I surrendered my Indian Passport at RPO, Bangalore and obtained the surrender certificate. I have submitted my application for entry visa on the FRRO portal as I am planning for extended stay. Now the waiting game begins. I hope everything goes well.
Hello @nivaan5
I'm in similar situation, I have oath in few days and traveling to India via USA in months time. If you could pitch in with your suggestion;
I will apply for India visa, but in case if I don't get it before travel, I will travel India with Indian passport, surrender the passport in India and exit India with exit paper/Canadian PP.
I will stay in in India for 16 days. Do you think this is doable? Or am taking risk?
We are family for 4.

Thanks for the update, do they ask for aadhar card and all documents or only voter id?
I heard even if you go for entry visa they still ask you to get exit permit so I am thinking may be I will just get the exit permit as not planning to stay for a longer period of time.

It says
UPLOAD UNDERTAKING LETTER MENTIONING THE DETAILS ABOUT THE SURRENDER/POSSESSION OF INDIAN DOCUMENTS LIKE VOTER ID RATION CARD. ETC
I’m not sure about exit permit for those who got any visa. These are the doubts I have and want to clarify with FRRO too. But unable to reach them

Hello all
An update to the entry visa process. I submitted the document with details of my Voter id, Aadhar and Driver's License. Later I was asked to surrender the voter id and submit an acknowledgement of the same and they also asked to submit details of ration card if I have one. I was able to surrender the voter id (delete name from electoral roll) online and upload the acknowledgement. I don't have a ration card, so submitted a letter stating the same.

Also, Finally I was able to reach an agent at FRRO today. They said for both entry visa and exit permit, once all the required documents are provided it would take about 1-2 days. If they require additional documents they will send a request on the portal and that will delay processing.

[edit: I deleted my name from the electoral roll online on the Election Commission of India website]
