Question about submitting visitor record extension application on? expiry date

Hello everyone,
My visitor record expires on October 27, 2023, and I just sent my application for VR extension on October 26, 2023 (8:45pm EDT).
The application went through with confirmation that it's transferred electronically on October 26, but the date of submission is October 27, 2023.
Is my application counted as before the expiry date?
If not, does that mean that I illegally reside in Canada now?

Thanks for the information. When they say "all applications must be submitted before midnight UTC on the date the applicant’s status expires", do they mean before 0:00am UTC or before 11:59pm UTC on the expiry date?
Because if it's the later (before 11:59pm UTC on Oct 27, 2023), then I think I'm still safe?

Sorry, I may have misread your dates. The application to extend your status must be received before midnight UTC on the day your status expires. So if your status expires today, the application must be submitted before midnight (UTC) today. If you did that, then you are good.

The expiration date on my current document is July 31, and I submitted my extension application on July 30 at 10:23:53 p.m. EDT. IRCC use UTC to calculate deadlines. Now, I know. It means 10:23 PM EDT on July 30, 2024, is equivalent to 2:23 AM UTC on July 31, 2024.
my question is that: did my previous work permit expired as the 11:59 UTC July 30, 2024 or 11:59 UTC July 31, 2024 (today 6:59 PM EST). I know the calculation of UTC to EST and vice versa my question is regarding IRCC taking expiry date at the end of day or the end of the previous day?
