Hello,

I am moving to Canada on an IEC Visa soon. I also wish to get a PR in the future. I have searched a lot for an answer to this question but haven't been able to find one.

I had some health issues that were resolved with an operation 2 years ago. if in the future I am applying for a PR, how will my cost to public services be calculated? For example, if I spend 2 years working in Canada, will the costs of my healthcare in my home country for 3,4 and 5 years ago also go into the calculation? Or will the calculation only be based on the 2 years spent in Canada?

I am now healthy and take no medications so my costs will be low. Many thanks for the help :)

I am not sure we can answer that question precisely, because the cost or burden is calculated based on each candidate. The most important factor I believe would be your current health and the cost associated to maintaining that care. So If the operation was done 2yrs ago with no complications or current medical care, plus another 2years in Canada with no health issues before PR application, it would be safe to assume then that there would be no perceived burden post PR. Basically, if there is no cost associated with your health after 4yrs, then there is no reason to assume any costs after getting PR. But for this to be true, you must pass your PR medical exam proving you are in good shape.
