I along with my wife applied for a visitor visa to visit my friend in Canada. Myself as the primary applicant.

Today my wife's visa application was refused stating that Finance and Assets are insufficient and family ties.

But my visa application is still under process.

What could be the reason. And what could be happening with my visa application.

Your applications are processed separately. How long was visit? How much in funds (cash)? Who is in home country if you want to travel together (child under 22)?

You may be approved based on the funds (funds only support one person) and your spouse being refused so she is a tie for you to return.

Our visit was for 2 weeks. I applied both of us as one application (me as primary and my wife as dependent). My both children (10 and 11) will be staying back home. I provided them all my 14 property deeds and I showed a balance of CAD $675,000/- in my personal savings account which was there for more than a year.

What might happen to my application. Is it like they will refuse the dependent first and then the primary applicant.

So you showed $675K in cash in a personal account? Wait for your response and then apply for GCMS notes.

What is your citizenship? That will have a big impact on approval. What is your international travel history and you wife’s? Providing 14 property deeds is likely proof of a business not a personal tie to your home country. How much equity you have in the homes will be a big factor on how much of a tie these properties will actually be. Is the 675k in US dollars and is it in a personal savings account or business account? Is it liquid? If a spouse gets denied a TRV there is still a chance that their spouse can be approved but there are also pretty decent chances that they TRV can be refused. What is your relationship with this friend? Have you seen them recently? To A visa officer would it make sense to travel to Canada just to visit them?

I'm a Sri Lankan citizen. And I along with my wife have travelled to 89 countries including Australia, Switzerland, France and UK. All my 14 properties are under my name. 675 k is in Candian Dollars in personal savings account for the past 12 months which is of course in liquid form since its in savings account I provided my photos with my friend and my family. Last year he came to visit me from Canada and I provided the pictures of his family with my family as well.

Money in personal savings account doesn’t have to be liquid. I can be in fixed deposits for example but there are other options. The fact that all your properties are in your names and not your wife’s name could be an issue. The fact that there are so many properties and this is likely a business and not personal properties that create ties to a country are also likely issues. Are there any person properties like a home you live in and are all the properties located in Sri Lanka? Do you run a business renting out these properties? Was the International travel for personal reason or business? The fact that Sri Lanka had a major economic crisis that continues will be a consideration and increases the concern that you will try remain in Canada

Hi.

today my wife's status changed to "we are reviewing your eligibility" from "your application was refused". And the front page also changed to "Sumitted" from "refused". But the refusal letter which came to her profile is still there.

What could that mean now

It is refused.

Naturgrl,

You were right. My visa application got approved and my wife also got the passport request letter a while ago. And her status also changed to "Your application was approved, you need to send us your valid passport to finalize your application".
Now both us got approved.

Thanks for sharing your experience Naturgrl
