hello guys. please help me out with this situation

I came to canada as an international student and i started my study in 2022 september. i completed my semester 1 and semester 2 in September 2022 and winter 2023...i was on a scheduled break from college in May 2023... i was supposed to start my semester 3 in september 2023 but due to medical reasons i took an uthorized leave from my study and i went to my home country for treatment. i will be back in winter 2024 for my 3rd semester.

My question is will it affect my PGWP since i had scheduled break of 4 months and right after then i took an authorized leave of 4 months. combining both my scheduled break from college and authorize leave will be above than 150 days.

please help

You would not be eligible for PGWP with an unauthorized break. If unauthorized then how was your school informed? Why was it not authorized? Your school is obligated to inform IRCC that you are not attending and cancel your study permit.

Read the post again. OP said the leave was authorized.

You should be fine since your leave was authorized. Make sure you include evidence from your school to prove it was authorized leave that was approved by the school.

thanks for the reply. yeah i took an authorize leave. i met with my programme coordinator and she approved the leave on medical term and i officially withdrew from the term.
i just wanted to know that will my back to back scheduled break (which was mandatory to take) + authorized leave will create a problem ? because combining them i will have a total break period of 8 months.

kindly reply

Your original post indicates that you took both unauthorized and authorized leave. Please clarify which one it is.

i did not take any unauthorized leave. the college was informed and the leave was authorized.

my main concern is that me taking my scheduled break (4 months- may to september) + authorized leave (4 months-september to january) = 8months in total create any trouble for pgwp ?

Do you have a valid TRV and Study permit? It can be an issue because it is more than 150 days as per PGWP guidelines. If you have a very solid explanation letter then it may be approved. You will not know until then.

yes I have a valid study permit. I will be returning next semester on that permit.

On the IRCC website it says :
A student on leave who begins or resumes their studies within 150 days from the date the leave commenced (that is, the date the leave was granted by the institution) is considered to be actively pursuing studies during their leave. If a student does not resume their studies within 150 days, they should do either of the following:

is my scheduled break is also considered as a leave ?? is scheduled break comes under authorized leave or it is a a different break ?

A study permit is not a TRV. A TRV lets you enter Canada and study permit lets you study. Do you have a TRV?
