Hello everyone,

I have 1 year of qualified experience (TEER 1, NOC 21232) and would like to submit my profile in the pool for express entry. However, I have taken 28 days of paid time off (company provides unlimited PTOs and fully remote work) and had 2 trips out of Canada of 32-8 days of duration correspondingly (some included stat holidays as well as time worked remotely + weekends).

I had the following questions:
  • is there a limit to the days off one can take in the 1 year (no restriction from company, unlimited PTO)?
  • does the hours paid during my vacation spent outside of canada count for the calculation of the 1 year that we have to do?
  • Do the days spent outside of Canada not count towards my 1 year experience (even though I’m employed on paper and am getting paid)?
Thank you!

- You can include true PTO in the calculation (i.e. time spen on vacation where you were not working but still being paid). While there is technically no limit to the best of my knowledge, the number of days needs to be reasonable in IRCC's eyes.
- Days spent working remotely outside of Canada cannot be counted towards the 1 year of Canadian work experience. You need to separate the days you were working remotely from your actual vacation days (when you were not working). Do not include the days you were working remotely in the count.

Thank you for answering my questions!
if it helps, the breakdown is
- 17 days of vacation taken overall spent outside Canada
- 9 days off taken spent inside Canada
and
- 23 days of remote work from outside Canada (which won't be counted)

so for vacation days, do have any idea how would they verify? (Since I don’t see any documents that need to be submitted for the same)
I have been given some "company-wide" days off which I didn't take myself as vacation and wasn't sure if they would have to be included as well. plus if I haven't left the country and taken days off here I'm not sure how would they be able to verify that.
