SOWP requirements and documents

Hello members,

I am on PGWP here in Canada and working as a software engineer. I recently got married and want to bring my wife here in Canada. I am considering applying for her SOWP instead of a visitor visa. I wonder what documents are required in this and the processing time.

Also, other than SOWP is there any better/fastest way to bring her to Canada?

Create a GC Key and answer questionnaire

You will get a document checklist for SOWP
Whom are you applying for?
Is there a spouse who is on a Study permit in Canada?

Hi, We reached out to many consultancies. All are suggesting to apply SOWP for my husband only after 6 months(when i enroll to courses in University, my enrollment is on Jan 8th 2024).
I really don't know what to do now. Can anyone please suggest or refer some other consultancy.

It is your decision. How long is your program? Where do you live as processing can take months? SOWP is not guaranteed because you may have been approved for your ties to return. Your spouse will have to show ties to return, funds etc.

My Program is from Jan 2024 to Sept 2025. We are living in Andhra Pradesh(India).

So come to Canada and study for 6 months and apply for SOWP then. Or given tensions between India and Canada, you may want to get an application in now. Just in case (probably will not happen) Canada suspends visa applications like India has. It is your decision but why didn’t you apply together if intent was for spouse to come to Canada?
