hi there, i flew to Canada to activate my PR and I got the PR card now but then I left already. I was there just for few weeks only , there is absolutely no Canadian tie and i have no income from Canada . Just wondering as a non-resident, should I need to do something like any admin work to file tax return? Im sure i don't need to pay any tax because of the non-reident status, but just wondering is there any admin work i need to do still? like filing tax return ? thanks!!

Nothing to do until you are living in Canada.

TFSA contributions are based on filing taxes. Doesn't hurt to file to take advantage of that. If you plan on applying for citizenship, you'll also have had to file.

There is no need to file taxes in your case.

You wouldn’t qualify for TFSA contribution in OPs situation,
Yes you do qualify. You won't qualify for an RRSP. You can hold a TFSA while being non resident, but deposits are penalized at 1%/month. But in order to qualify for the contribution limit, which has no basis in earnings (which can be used when you do return to Canada), you need to file with CRA.

Based on the information provided and other information looks like you had to be a resident at a certain point before becoming a non-resident. In this case individual was never a resident of Canada and would be filing 1st Canadian tax return as non-resident (not required to file the tax return) so it doesn’t seem like TFSA would impact whether they should file or not.
