Chances of getting an invite from Ontario?

Hello!

My husband and I (both under 30) are in the process of planning our move to Canada through Express Entry. My ECA evaluation recently came back with a Master's Degree Equivalency. I'm scheduled to take the IELTS test in January, and while I'm hopeful, I'm aiming for at least a band 8.

Additionally, I work as a Front-end Developer, and I've got a sister living in Ottawa, ON, along with her husband. When I add up the points, it looks like I might have around 460.

So, the burning question is whether all this is enough to increase my chances of receiving an invite from Ontario. I can't help but feel a bit concerned, especially considering the recent draws. It seems my best option might be to try for an ITA from a province and we really want to go to Toronto, so other places are not an option.

In the meantime I'm also studying French, but I don't know if I'll be able to get a good enough score in the test to add points to my express entry profile.

EE score is too low. Chances of OINP are low too as having a sibling in Ontario doesn’t give you any OINP points.

Really? But I thought OINP prefered people who had more chances of staying in the province (like having a sister) and besides that, the fact that I work in tech is not better since Ontario has a Tech stream?

No, OINP gives no points for having family in the province so doesn’t give you a higher chance. Ontario doesn’t need to select based on family being in the province - enough of a pool to choose from. Check the last OINP draws for tech. Your score is too low. Last draw was over 470. Learn French.

Try to maximize your CLB in English.

And French is a good option of course.
