Hi there, does anyone in this group have recent experience with attempting to provide proof of funds for a UK bank (Barclays for example), after having received an invitation to apply for PR? My current bank (Barclays) seem hesitant to provide the necessary information as per the IRCC website:

What we accept as proof
Your funds must be available to you both when.
  • you apply
  • we issue you a permanent resident visa (if we approve your application)
You must prove to us that you can legally access the money here when you arrive.
For example, this means
  • you can't use equity on real property as proof of settlement funds
  • you can’t borrow this money from another person
You must be able to use this money to pay for your family’s costs of living (even if they aren’t coming with you).
  • If your spouse is coming with you, you can count money you have together in a joint account.
  • You may be able to count money in an account under your spouse’s name only, but you must prove you have access to the money.
For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you have an account.
These letters must be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead and include
  • the bank or institution’s contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • your name
  • your outstanding debts (such as credit card debts and loans)
  • these details for each current banking and investment account you have with them
    account numbers
    date each account was opened
    current account balances
average balance for the past 6 months

It will help people if you state what the bank is refusing to provide.

Not sure which doc the bank is refusing you. But you can print the statements from Barclay's online app as well ask them to provide a doc mentioning your total balance. You can approach the manager

The following were proving problematic for Barclays:
1. Your outstanding debts (such as credit card debts and loans)
2. Date each account was opened

Barclays Bank is claiming that they don't provide letters as such, however, when we asked which of those requests they could not fulfill, the advisor we spoke to was unable to clarify which point was problematic. However, they alluded that providing the average balance over the past 6 months was an issue for them.
Ask them you are leaving the country soon and you would need a letter explaining the total funds in your account. Otherwise tell them that it's your account's clarification you are asking about not Prime Minister's..
Otherwise the last solution is that your friends got the same letter from Llyods and Natwest in an instance.
