Finally, my file is out of Sydney and has been transferred to the local office in Montreal. The story is that it was a mistake by the agent who processed my file; he incorrectly calculated my physical presence days, which made me fall short of the required 1095 days. Therefore, my application was sent to a special department in the Sydney office (RC-8090) that handles such cases, but to be reviewed by an officer, not an agent. To reach your turn, I had to wait 9 months. Finally, the officer opened my file but he also followed the same mistake made by the agent and cancelled my file, sending me an explanation letter that I was short on days, etc. However, I replied to him with a detailed explanation that he had miscalculated my physical presence days, which left me almost 200+ days short. He replied to me with apologies that it was their mistake and two days later issued a new C number with a new AOR, noting that my file had been transferred to the local office and should be treated as urgent. So hopefully things will go smoothly from here. The only frustrating thing is that I found notes about this issue on the GCMS a long time ago, and I tried to inform them about it via the call centre, web form, and MP channel, but it seems they don't read the messages; it's only one-way communication.

What an absolute shit show. Good thing you kept persisting and hopefully it's a quick process from here on.

Secondary office is Vancouver who sent my test invite and did BG check. Absolutely quick all less than 2 months. But I'm from Edmonton, so should my local office be Edmonton?

My guess is whatever office sent your test, would be your office post Sydney (for Oath and stuff). But with my local office (Scarborough), I have seen it being changed to Mississauga for some ppl at Oath stage. Probably due to large volume of applications.

yes, we applied same date. my partner gave the test 3 weeks later than me and I am already a citizen for 2 months. Didn't contact local MP considering there have not been any positive movement for other folks with MP involvement or getting a standard reply of application being within 18 months timeframe

First notes applied on 18 Aug got reply on 16 Sep, second set applied on 20 Sep and got back on 29th

This is a good sign.

I just don't understand how Sydney works and why they are so horribly slow compared to the other offices.
