If you want to change employers you need a new LMIA from that employer, and then apply for a new closed work permit.

Who is suing whom? Do you meant your employer? Your employer wouldn’t sue you but can let you go if they think you are leaving. And then you may be out of a job with no new LMIA or work permit.

If you leave now, you cannot work. You must change your status to a visitor.

Just another comment. If you get a new LMIA, and apply for a closed work permit. The work permit may be refused. It is not guaranteed.

The new one you are trying to get, IRCC will approve your new permit at their discretion, you are not guaranteed that you will get a new permit.

Hey, may I ask you some question about the LMIA?
I have the familiar problem but not the same one. I have received one employee’s LMIA number, but I didn’t apply for the work permit. I still in the foreign country, I plan to arrive at Canada next year. But now another employee who is my prefer give me offer, may I ask the new employee to apply the LMIA, and I use the new LMIA number to apply my work visa.
In conclusion, may I have 2 LMIA before I submit the application of visa?

LMIAs cost $1k not including costs for posting jobs, interviewing, filing out paperwork. Employer will not know if you have a LMIA.

I want to ask if my visa and work permit will be issued according to the contract or 24 months from the date the visa will be issued? For example, if it is issued by the date that my contract is written, should I apply for a work permit extension for the period that has passed?
