I was just reading through the oath email. I have it due on the 18th of September. I just read today I have to be inside Canada to take the Oath? I am currently living outside Canada but am willing to return if needed but I want to find out if I 100% have to return to take the online oath. If so can I take it anywhere inside of Canada. Thanks

I think its mentioned in the email what to do in case you not in Canada. You need to see how that process goes.
Yes there was, I did email them and in the response email that's where I read I have to be in Canada. I assumed because I was doing zoom I didn't have to be there but that was my mistake to think that. Is there a fast way to contact them and get a clear answer? The email addresses always take forever to reply and I need to probably sort it out tomorrow if I am going to need to be in Canada on the 18th of this month.
It would really help a lot if I didn't have to fly back just for one day though

Email to your Oath office is the fastest way. Calling IRCC wont help as those agent rarely help. They might just add a note your file.

Ok I did email them but if I don't hear back by tomorrow what should I do as I will have to arrange flights and take time off work

I was in a similar situation. If you are flying from the USA, then should be easier as you can apply for the passport from the US. Try opting for the e-certificate. You can color print it and apply for passport. If they don't accept your request for e-certificate, then the hard copy will be delivered to the address you give and it can easily take more than a week. So make sureto give address of a friend who can receive the certificate and mail it to you. But if I were you, I would not leave Canada until I have the passport in hand. Once you have the certificate, you can apply for urgent passport processing if your flight is within the next 2 days. If the flight is withing a week, then they will process it as express and not urgent. In urgent application, you get the passport within a day or two. In express, you get it within 7 business days. If I were you, I will have the form filled and all my references and guarantors ready to sign the forms.

I am getting the e-certificate. I haven't looked into getting the passport yet. Can I not apply for it outside of the country? I will only be in Canada for a week. I'm coming from Ireland

Ok I might opt for this option. Is there much of a difference in waiting times between the two options. I heard a friend saying something about people having to wait overnight to apply for a passport somewhere. Is there any truth to that?
