Any way to check PRTD status applied via portal?

Hello
Looking for any insight please!
I currently have two different methods at a race to get me access back to Canada -

I have applied via post for my PR card renewal before leaving Canada for emergency trip to Australia as it expired and I needed to leave regardless.
Then upon landing I have also applied for a PRTD via the portal seeing as I cannot enter Canada on my now expired PR card.

Is there any way to check the status of my PRTD portal application? I have only the ‘submitted’ button still highlighted
I have heard no further communication, who can I contact to check on this?

Update on my PR card renewal from postal application says it is now 'In Process' (email dated august 9) - any insight if this is likely to come through faster than the PRTD?

What do desperate residents need to do to get home for their families in such situations? I have children that start school in a week and applications were done in June - I feel very distraught!!!!!

Can I renounce PR (build it back when I'm home) and apply for an ETA? Is that a thing?

My flights are too expensive to change to go I go into the US and cross over land border. (This was my back up plan)

Thank you if you've read this to the end!!!!

I can't answer all of your questions but I'll help with the ones where I can.

There are three options for returning residents (which I believe have been provided to you previously):
- Valid PR card
- Valid PRTD
- Fly to the US and re-enter Canada through a land border crossing

PR card renewal processing time is currently 83 days and then you have to factor in additional time for mailing. So if you applied sometime in June then September is likely the earliest you can expect for the card to arrive at your Canadian address.

Technically you can renounce PR to get an ETA. However renouncing your PR status takes a while to be processed and there's no way that will happen in time for you to get an ETA and fly within the next week (I'm assuming your flight is scheduled for the next week).

Thanks for answering!
We are both on the same page it seems and it’s only a waiting game. Nothing more to be done. I am like so many on here, just frustrated and waiting. I believe I treated a PRTD like an emergency visa case scenario, something that could be obtained as simply as an ETA, that was my mistake.
Good Luck to anyone else in same situation. Eventually we will get home at a cost.
Lessons learned to be much better organised when it comes to renewals of PR cards, in my circumstance, from what I understand, not having this plastic card is the gatekeeper as I do still hold residency, I just cannot enter because of not having the card.

thank you everyonefor your responses in the past
