My wife is first time pregnant and we are in a situation where my close relatives cannot travel to Canada due to health/other issues. My wife's mother had passed away when she was young. She has a step mother who cannot travel to Canada as she is taking care of a physically disabled kid. However, the mother of step-mother has volunteered to come to Canada and provide emotional support during pregnancy. This nice lady has family but does not have any major financial assets to show strong ties back home. Can anyone suggest/recommend if there is a way we can invite her here for 3 months. And what are the documents that we should provide for applying for TRV.

Your can provide a letter of invitation but 3 months is a long visit. A 3 month visits show no ties to return. She needs to show her own funds, travel history and ties to home country (job letter with approved leave, income, properties spouse/children etc.).

What should be the ideal duration for visit when she does not have travel history and financial assets. She is a housewife and is staying with her husband. Also, what should be mentioned in the letter of invitation?

When is your wife due? Is she coming before or after birth?

2-3 weeks. You can mention she is coming to visit you. She can include her husband’s bank accounts. Mentioning a pregnancy is not always the best idea because IRCC will think she will stay longer.

It is due in April 2024. We are planning to get her after pregnancy. Thank you for the details.

Given it is not a family member all you can say is to meet your baby and explain why this person is coming to visit. Mentioning support = working (taking care of baby and mother) in IRCC views, and person cannot be viewed as working.
