My spouse in thinking of doing a "one-year programme at a university, college, trade or technical school ,or other institute" to add points to our application where I am the principal applicant. This will give us another 6 points but I can't find any more detailed information on what this qualification should be. We don't want to waste a year and find it has not helped. Does anyone know if there is more information on IRCC website? Will this be subject to Education Credential Assessment? We are in the UK and would like to know equivalent level qualifications here. Thanks in advance and apologies if already asked but I could not find

So she doesn’t have post secondary and she plans to do a one year diploma? It needs to be a diploma or certificate. She would need an ECA for it. Check WES and see if school and program are eligible. You will not know until you get ECA completed whether it is considered a one year equivalency. What is your current score?

No he does not currently have anything as in the UK we don't have equivalent to high school graduation and he never went to UNI. My current score is 444 but I'm studying to improve my French and in a year or so expect to add extra points with that and in the meantime he'll add extra

So don’t know how the system works but isn’t secondary Grades 10 and 11. If he can get a post secondary diploma and it is assessed as a one year program then you get the additional points. Will not know until ECA is completed.

It will depend on how this education is assessed through ECA so you need to research this through the ECA providers like WES.

In UK school leaving age was 16 when he left school, he passed 'Ordinary' Levels which typically represent a total of 11 years of study and mark the end of the secondary education cycle. Some go on to study 'Advanced' Levels in specialised subjects prior to going away to University. We have been told his O levels are not equivalent to high school graduation. I was hoping there would be advice from IRCC as to what qualified as "one-year programme at a university, college, trade or technical school ,or other institute" as it's a lot of time and $ if it does not pass ECA thanks for advice
