Requirements needed for flagpoling

Hello everyone. I have some questions on how to do the flagpoling thing.

I'm thinking of going into Canada on a tourist visa, and looking for a job there. Once I find a job in Canada, can I flagpole even without a valid US visitor visa?

Just in case, I was not able to find a job in Canada during the validity of my tourist visa, can I flagpole to extend my tourist visa, and how?

And also, what documents do I need to have with me to do this process?

It would really be appreciated if everyone who has done this can share details on how they have done with this process.

If you look at the requirements on the CIC website for applying for a work permit at the border, you will see that one of them is being visa exempt to Canada. However, I have heard of people who have been given a work permit at the border with a valid multiple entry visit visa.

You would not need a visa to the US because you can tell the US border when you arrive that you don't want to enter the US since you just came to go to the Canadian side to take care of a work permit. They should turn you around and you would arrive back on the Canadian side.

Basing on what you have said, does luck play a big part in the flagpoling being successful? If I carried a Canadian single entry visit visa, what will happen to my flagpoling?

On the second point, is it for sure the US border will let me into the US even without a valid US visa?

No luck needed if you meet the requirements, that is you are visa exempt and have your LMO or are LMO exempt and your $150 to pay for your work permit.

If you don't meet the requirements, it depends on the IO. If you do not have an LMO or $150, you can forget it but I have heard of someone who was allowed to get a work permit at the border who was not visa exempt but had a multiple entry TRV. That doesn't mean that it will always happen, maybe he was just lucky. Will you also get lucky with a single entry, who knows?

The US border will not let you in and you do not want to go to the US anyway. That is what you tell them when you arrive at the US border. They will turn you around and send you back to Canada.

Don't have to ask what your passport is or what you are flagpoling for, but the answer is no.
