Hello friends,

My profile:
age: 33 years old
passport: dual citizenship, Syrian and Turkish passports
residence: Turkey
education: BS in computer science
work experience: software developer, 8 years
purpose of visit: study
marital status: divorced

I've applied for a student visa application, I submitted only what is listed in my personal check list:
  • form imm1294e
  • form imm5645e
  • Biometric Image
  • Passport
  • the letter of acceptance
  • the admission letter
  • Financial Support Document: including
    • a back statement of the last 4 months, and a balance of $16000, the money was deposited as a one transaction, It did not accumulate over time
    • a proof of an assets owned by me, and
    • a proof of financial support from the university (included in the admission letter)
I did not know that I had to include an SOP.

I have submitted my application on June 21, 2023, gave my biometrics on July 03, and my application was refused on July 13 due to:
  1. "The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application."
  2. "You have limited employment possibilities in your country of residence."
I have the following questions please:
  1. should I attach evidences to the SOP letter of:
    1. certificates from the college/institutes I mention in my SOP
    2. letter of employment for all companies I worked for / only the one mentioned in my SOP, taking into consideration that I mentioned the current and the last two jobs, and I've worked for 7 companies, including my current job, in total.
    3. are the letter of employment enough by themself, should I include my paychecks as well
    4. any other document.
  2. May I reuse my back statement that was issued on June 20, 2023.
  3. Should I provide a justification on why the money was deposited in one transfer into my account.
  4. Is there any other advise.
Thanks in advanced.

Order GCMS notes but you are not addressing reasons for refusal. What is the program? And how much more money will you make after completion to justify costs. IRCC thinks that coming to Canada will not give you a better job if already a software developer with a degree. IRCC thinks you are trying to immigrate what are your ties to return. This has nothing to do with funds but lack of education and career advancement.

Thanks Naturgrl,

1. the master's program is in computer science, its courses aligns well with my professional experience in the past 3 years. However, I have not explained that in a SOP letter thus it makes sense that my application was refused.
2. it is a partial scholarship, I think that might would justify the costs I will pay on my own.
3. I explained how this master program should increase my potentials in getting better jobs in Turkey in the SOP I am writing now.
4. I have ties in Turkey, my parents and siblings, I mentioned that in my SOP which I will include with my next application

I am just trying to prepare my application better so I can have a second try. Any help would be appreciated.

So you need to show solid proof that you will be paid a higher wage to justify costs. How long is the program? If program costs $50,000 as an example then show that you will be making $xx more than you do now to make program valid. Parents and siblings are not family ties if over 22.

  • Regarding the costs I will be paying, the program is two years long. it will cost CAD 32000, the scholarship funds worth CAD 45000, so what I think it will cover up to 70% of my expenses (studying + living)in the first two years. Meanwhile, I will continue working in my current job as a part-time employee, I was able to get an employment verification letter from the company to attach to my SOP.
  • Regarding the ties to Turkey, I mentioned that I own a property here in Turkey, would not that be enough if the family members I mentioned are not?

you already know what you are doing. whatever statement you make in your SOP provide documentary evidence to back it up. However one thing I do not understand if you have been working you should have your monthly transaction from your employer in your bank account not just one big transaction that is in huge amount because that can be perceived as borrowed money .
So focus on your future plans back home after completing your studies and how having a scholarship is a great help in completing your studies in Canada.
yes paychecks are a real proof of your work. letter of employment i can make by myself with a signature of my friend and his contact details .....etc
