Outside of webforms and the call center, has anyone contacted IRCC through professional or personal connections to seek a more useful update as well as information about the assigned case worker? For example, if you have a friend or family member who is at IRCC... I know it doesnt seem ethical but I am just wondering if there is more useful information one can get. Most call center agents really dont say much (except for maybe 1 person I spoke to) and they just say its in the timeline.

You can contact your local MP as they can access your file but that’s probably the only thing I’d do. You could also order your GCMS notes through IRCC or CBSA. Files are transferred around at different stages as well.

The short answer is that a friend or family member cannot help without the risk of being fired from their job with cause.

It's more than not ethical, it would be a clear code of conduct violation which could result in that person being fired. The government and large organizations view code of conduct rules extremely seriously. A person who does this would be putting their job on the line.
